So I have decided to start a project. Good for me, eh? I’m going to step away from drawing for a bit to try my hand at toy customization using a Munny of Kidrobot fame and some delicious polymer clay. Omnomnom.

Follow along on my adventure of creation and no doubt destruction as I attempt to make something semi-nice looking and see if I have any future with clay in my hands. Guffaw.

So yesterday, Sunday, was a beautiful day. I drove down to visit meh mam and meh auxilery pah. We did not have much time to spend together which was a real bummer. I found out some disappointing things– the fine folks [read:heathen Neanderthals] who rented my mother’s house all but destroyed it. I can’t believe people sometimes… how do you stay in someone else’s house for 9 months and let it fall into shambles? WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!? *curb stomps the world*

Additionally, my cat of 13 years, Muggsy, sweet beloved thing, is apparently gone. The fine folks [read:inconsiderate cretins] probably scared him away or neglected to feed him, so it seems as though he’s moved on. I haven’t been able to be with the cat for a long time, and I’ve gotten used to being away from him, but still, he was my cat and I loved the shit out of him. I’m not so much upset that he’s not at the house, but that people would be cruel enough to let him disappear without telling anyone. Epic failure.

On the drive home last night, I think I technically died twice. Now no one panic. I still seem to be clining to life, and very much in one piece. However, some a-hole (pardon my colorful language, I’m rather peeved today) seemed to think YIELD meant, HIT THE CAR IN THE NEXT LANE, PLZ. This truck nearly, and somehow slowly, merged right into me. I had to swerve at the last second to the left lane of the highway, and, even though I was pretty sure I was going to collide with the SUV coming right behind from the left, by the grace of something, we narrowly missed by an inch, or probably less. Nothing. No impact. No horns blown (I never think to blow the horn, I don’t think it does any good when dealing with vehicular retards). Absolutely nothing. It was pretty frightening, but what was even more scary was that I came out of it unscathed. I was SO SURE that I was going to get hit, either from the right or the left. But nothing. Gees.

Now I was thinking, should I believe in God now? Should I be like, holy crud, I’m voting Republican now! God has saved my life! How can I be pro-choice now?!

And then I realized that had nothing to do with it and I laughed. Shakily, clinging to the relief of being alive and not a greasy smear on the side of someone’s sports utility truck, laughed. But I think it has opened my eyes.

I will probably now start to worship the concept of Luck. I was lucky that I moved perfectly the right distance to the left, and that by whatever skill, foresight, or magical powers the guy in the left lane had to NOT side swipe me as I veered into him (and not get pissed from what I could tell)… it could only have been Luck. Chaos. The whacked out order of the world. The thing that chooses the randomness that we think we can control, but can’t always. Fortune, I guess, good or bad.

Thank Luck for Luck, else I might be being pieced back together in a hospital today instead of going to work. Damn lucky too, since I’ve got a California trip coming at the end of the week. I hope I’m lucky enough to live that long.

The pain. Well I haven’t been keeping up with my blogging, mostly because life is pretty repetitive lately… although, I have been smooshing many different tasks into very little time. Work takes up, obviously, most of my time, and now school (in which I’m actually learning something new and complicated for once) is proving to need a good deal of time dedicated to homework. I’m also taking commissions (and I’m a slow-ass worker so those take me a bit to get done) for some extra scratch (which I do need). I’d love to do things like art trades and gift art to get to know more artists and make friends (cuz come on, free stuff = friends. XD) within the communities of my interests, but I have so little time to dedicate to drawing and like a said, I need some scratch. So I’m a little frustrated in that department.

I have a project that I’m slowly cooking up which requires a lot of personal drawing time, which I try to squeeze in responsibly (and then of course I get distracted by drawing TMNT fan art XD) between commission requests. So everything is crazy go nuts!

Oh not to mention I’ve been writing a <a href=”http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4422649/1/No_Longer_Responsible”>fan fiction</a> which I would have stopped doing by now if so many people hadn’t seem to enjoy it so much. I feel obligated to keep it up. It’s a fun story to write but I hit writer’s blocks every now and again (like now). Plus it deals with my current fandom (read:obsession) TMNT so the interest is there… I just need the time (and a thesaurus ><; ) Donnie/Mikey centric… gotta love it. 

So much to do, so little time! But, there’s always time for affection. I love youse guys!

I thought it would be appropriate to post today, seeing as it has been exactly a month. This time I have artwork to share. I’ve been in the process of updating some very old characters that I created over 10 years ago. Weird for me to think that it has been so damn long… it’s like the last decade of my life has just slipped away so easily. Oh well! Onto the artwork!

Been a little while but I’m back with some updates. We journeyed to Newark a couple of weekends ago to take part in another fur convention- Fur Affinity United. A much different experience than Anthrocon- it was held in the Airport Marriot Hotel and was much smaller than Anthrocon in Pittsburgh. Nevertheless, it was quite fun and we met some neat new people and saw some familiar ones from AC. We also got to see a few awesome bands. We took some great photos and also some priceless videos! Hehe.

Ironically, Furaffinity.net was still down at the time of its own convention, but now that it’s back up and kickin’ I’ve updated my gallery some. Good stinkin’ gravy, it was hot this weekend. I made it down to good ol’ Cabo Mayo to visit James. Had a very nice visit and actually spent nearly all of Sunday on the *gasp* beach. I took 3 showers that day, no joke. We met with some very good friends and then I drove very conservatively back home. The horrendous rumor (or truth?) that driving 55 mph will ease up on the gas burning compelled me to drive… well… 55mph. I’m sure the fact that I kept the air conditioner on completely negated any beneficial effect of driving like a grandma.

In other news, today I bit the bullet and ordered some business cards for vilsy.net. I may not sit in the Artist Alley at Anthrocon, but as I understand it is imperative to hand out millions of business cards while there.  While shopping around on the net, at first I couldn’t believe my eyes at the deal I found… 250 cards for $3.99!  In the end, I paid about 40 bones for 500 of them. *scratches head and tries to do the math*.  They get you in the shipping… and the fear that my exquisitely colorful design won’t print well on their cheapest card paper. So, I went for the ‘good stuff’ and the unbelievable savings just sort of… proved their unbelievability. Oh well. It needed to be done. Hopefully they will be beautiful! Now I am thinking about getting a bumper sticker with my website on it…. har har har…

I never thought I’d give in to over-glorified, mile-a-minute infomercial blather, but I’ve finally caved in to purchasing the Magic Bullet. It’s not just the Magic Bullet, it’s the Original Magic Bullet. It’s every magic bullet’s grandaddy. Don’t get it twisted.

In all seriousness (I’ll try, honestly), yeah it’s one of those “As Seen on TV” products, meaning one in his or her right mind ought to steer clear of it. But by golly I am addicted to the smoothies at Wegmans… so fruity, so delicious, so peachy, so smooth… a 20 minute trip and a 5 dollar investment… I needed a do-it-yourself solution. We tried to go the smoothie route before but cleaning up and storing what was left in the huge blender was a pain in the butt. Plus I’m quite easily the worse cook/food handler on Earth, so making a big old pitcher full of purplish-gook and then realizing it was barely edible was a waste. So, the Magic Bullet not only saves time and space, but the environment too! (As in I produce less radioactive sludge before I realize it doesn’t taste very good and dump it into the sink or hock it back).

So I’ve only really used it thrice and I haven’t duplicated the wonder of Wegmans yet, but I shall persevere!

I’ve finally gone batty. Well, in so much as that I’m drawing them. Several months ago while perusing the used DVDs at FYE, we came across an animated show called Silverwing which seemed to be based around crazy hair color bats. It cost us like 8 bucks and I love furries so we bought it. It seemed a little corny at first, but then the story really picked up and we watched like the ENTIRE DVD (13 episodes) in one night.

After doing some research we found that it was an adaptation of a book which I’ve finally gotten my hands on and am reading now. It’s a pretty neat story and whatever animation company worked on it did a pretty good job. Wasn’t Don Bluth… but they put in good effort nonetheless.

In any case, it’s inspired me to draw some bats… I drew Aero the Acrobat and Rouge from Sonic the Hedgehog a lot last year, so the style is close to theirs. I like the idea of drawing their wings correctly… but it’s easier to give them both arms and wings separately. Maybe I will try to do it the other way… This guy’s name is Demetrius, and when I have time I will try to design his counterpart, Lysander. Yes, he’s wearing reinforced panties held up by a belt and bandoleer.

It’s been a year since my last ‘creative crunchtime’. I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to attend Otakon (the gi-normous Anime convention in Baltimore) last May, but something suddenly bit me in the rear and I decided to go crazy and rent an art table there. It was fun and an interesting experience, but my art didn’t really go over as well as I’d hoped, especially since I went nuts trying to prepare for it (I really did spend more money on materials than I made back… I’m not a business major, OK!?!). Drove my boyfriend crazy asking, “Could you print like 25 more of this drawing? Could you print like 10 more pages of bookmarks? Could you please print like 8 million business cards! Kthanksbye!”

Well none of that same brand of madness this time around… or so I’ve promised myself. We’ll be attending Anthrocon this year instead of Otakon, which is a much smaller convention but is still the Mecca of furry cons. And before you get dumb ideas in your head, don’t judge “furries” by what you watch on CSI. Honestly. Shame on you and your network television.

So I’ll be doing a lot of drawing and posting my sketches here in the next couple of weeks. I’ll be sure to take pictures too. One of my main goals is to promote my Sonic fan site… this will sort of make or break the amount of effort I put into it depending on the response I get at the con.

Either way, should be an exciting experience!
